Frequently Asked Questions

How do I use Venmo to buy Groundcover newspapers?

So where does the customers’ money go?

It goes right to the vendor.  After their investment of 25 cents, they keep the profits.  They are not allowed to ask for more than $1, unless selling one of the anthology papers, which have a $10 donation price.

Can a person make a living selling Groundcover News?

It depends.  Groundcover Vendors are really their own bosses when it comes to how often they want to work.  Some vendors sell a few papers per day to supplement their income, whereas other vendors sell hundreds of papers per week and are able to earn a modest living.

  • For example

    • 200 papers sold = at least $300 income

    • 800 papers sold = at least $1,200 income

Is it available by subscription?

Groundcover News is not currently available by subscription from the organization itself, though a few vendors coordinate subscriptions for regular customers.  This is intentional.  We don’t facilitate subscriptions because that undermines the customer engagement that is at the core of the GCN mission.  It also ensures that the money the customer spends goes directly to the individual who will most benefit.

How often is it printed?

Groundcover is printed every other Friday (every 14 days).
